MKEimages.com Image of the Day - It was not your standard ribbon cutting ceremony, but you may say a chain cutting ceremony at the grand opening of the new Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley at 6th and Canal St. today. From politicians to motorcycle riders the celebration lasted throughout the evening. The museum is expected to draw an additional 400,000 tourists to the Milwaukee area per year and the potential economic impact has been compared to that of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to Cleveland, OH. MKEimages.com Image of the Day - The Iron Block Building on the corners of Wisconsin Ave. and Water St. in downtown Milwaukee. Built in 1860 this building is unique in that the entire exterior facade facing Wisconsin Ave. is constructed of cast iron.

MKEimages.com Image of the Day - Standing in the MGIC Plaza on the corners of Broadway and Kilbourn Sts. is this bronze sculpture entitled "Le Grand Double". The 12 ton, 28 foot tall sculpture was created in Argentina by artist Alicia Penalba. With its curvilinear lines it created quite a contrast to the two geometrical buildings it rests between.

MKEimages.com Image of the Day - The historic St. Mary's Hospital (now Columbia St. Mary's) was incorporated in Milwaukee in 1859 as a Catholic hospital run by the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph. At one time the hospital admitted soldiers of both the Civil War and the War of 1812 for a variety of medical treatments. The hospital is located on a scenic bluff called "North Point" overlooking Lake Michigan at the corners of Lake Dr. and North Ave. on Milwaukee's lakefront.

With the end of Summerfest yesterday we have updated the MKEimages.com Summerfest 2008 Gallery with a few new images. Billed as the World's Largest Music Festival the 10 day run on Milwaukee's lakefront was a major success.
MKEimages.com Image of the Day - Two of the many bronze sculptures which are part of the Grohmann Museum Collection. Eighteen bronzes created by Tom Queoff, twelve at nine-foot tall and six at six-foot tall are part of a simply spectacular rooftop garden at the Grohmann Museum.
