CPD Update has added this interesting image "Industrial Shadows" of a warehouse under renovation in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward (corners of Broadway and Buffalo St.) to our Urban Environments Gallery. Just to the left of the interior, out of view were 2 construction workers doing some saw cutting in the concrete floor. The dust led to the smokey effect and then the sun shining through the windows created the shadows.
Light Ideas Gallery, Creative Photo Designs, & Milwaukeestock.com would like to thank all who showed up for Gallery Night & Day this weekend. The crowds were large and the event was a big success. As for the Light Ideas Gallery photo contest we received over 200 votes from our visitors on the 14 featured works from the "Freetimers". "Alley Ducky" by Janet McMillan was awarded 1st place, next was "Runner in Center Park" from Troy Freund, and coming in 3rd was "Untitled" by Andi Loppnow. Congrtatulations to all. We have added the image "Skyline Thru Windows" to the Milwaukeestock.com General Interest 3 Gallery. The image of many of the buildings in downtown Milwaukee was taken from one of the concourses inside the Bradley Center.
Just a simple reminder to visit both the Creative Photo Designs and Milwaukeestock.com teams at the Gallery Night & Day event this weekend. Located at 207 E. Buffalo St. in the Historic Third Ward, Light Ideas Gallery will be featuring the exhibition "Fourteen Photographers, Fourteen Images". The images are from a loose-knit group of photographers based in Milwaukee called the Freetimers. The exhibition hours are from 6pm to 9pm on Friday (20th) evening and from 12 noon to 3pm on Saturary (21st) afternoon. We look forward to seeing you.
We have added this recent interior image of The Bradley Center to the ConstructionSitestock.com Real Estate Gallery. The Bradley Center located on 4th St. in downtown Milwaukee is the home of the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA), Marquette Golden Eagles (NCAA), and the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). Built in 1988 the arena also hosts various concerts and special events such as figure skating, rodeos, and motocross to name a few.
We have uploaded this interesting images of Turners Restaurant to the Milwaukeestock.com General Images 3 Gallery. Built in 1883 this historic building has a long interesting history and is a favorite of many here in Milwaukee. A mix of Queen Anne and Romanesque architectural styles the building is listed on the National Registery of Historic Places. Click here for more information on the landmark and its history. This image was taken from a concourse in the Bradley Center across the street.
With 2 goals in the 3rd period the Milwaukee Admirals an AHL Hockey team closed the regular season with a 4 to 0 win over the Peoria Rivermen at the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee. Images are from Milwaukeestock.com photographer Mark R. Bertieri, we decided to give our regular sports photographer David Bernacchi the afternoon off. Images are posted in our Admirals vs. Rivermen Gallery located in our Milwaukee Images Gallery. Being fan appreciation afternoon the Admirals pleased the crowd in a hard fought game. The reining Western Conference Champions will begin defense of their crown in Chicago on April 20th versus the Chicago Wolves.

Light Ideas Gallery will be featuring the photographic exhibition "Fourteen Photographers, Fourteen Images". The images are the work of a loose knit group of Milwaukee based photographers known as the "Freetimers". The Freetimers are all talented, published photographers with expertise in various areas and types of photography. The photographers will also offer tips and comments
on both digital and film photography. Light Ideas Gallery will also be featuring individual exhibitions on Friday evenings this summer and many of the Freetimers will be participating. Please come and see a preview of their work.

We lead off this week with an interesting image of the smokestacks that are the foundation of a new park being developed in the Menomonee Valley, Chimney Park. On the way to Miller Park (just around the corner) to drop off a Milwaukeestock.com photographer to cover the Brewers vs. Cubs MLB baseball game we stopped in to check on the progress of the park. Located on both sides of the 35th St. Viaduct the park will include playing fields, organized recreation areas, and gathering spaces. The central feature of the area are the two, tall smokestacks which are the only remnants of the site's long history as one of the nations largest rail yards. As usual, the construction activity in Milwaukee is beginning to increase as Spring approaches and we are there to report. These two images show some tuckpointing on the building at 751 N. Broadway. The work is being done by Holton Brothers out of Grafton, WI. Holton Brothers is a well known, top quality restoration contractor whose work extends all along the coast of Lake Michigan from Port Washington to Chicago. A family owned company with experience in the restoration, caulking, & waterproofing trades, Holton Brothers has been in business for over 30 years.
At this location during the latter part of the 19th Century was Adam Roth's Quiet House saloon. The saloon was the corner of what was called Newspapers Row. The 3rd floor was home to the Milwaukee Press Club. Still existing is the 222 East Mason St. Building which was the beginning of the Daily Journal later known as The Milwaukee Journal.
