MKEimages.com Image of the Day - In continuing our nature theme from yesterday's Image of the Day 080530 post of the Urban Ecology Center we follow it up with this image from the Homestead Animal Farm. Located in Hartland a short drive from downtown Milwaukee the farm features produce, farm animals, and a very large corn maze in the Autumn, this is a very interesting place away from the big city. Once again, the coverage of the MKEimages.com team of photographers not only covers the City of Milwaukee, and the surburbs, but the whole S.E. WI region. Have to love the goat against the American Flag backdrop.
MKEimages.com Image of the Day - The Urban Ecology Center is located at Riverside Park at 1500 E. Park Ave on Milwaukee's lower east side. A huge aquarium, a birdwatching walk, “stream slides”, a rooftop garden, a pond, and lookout tower outside the building are just a few of its features. The mission of The Urban Ecology Center is to educate and inspire people to understand and value nature as motivation for positive change, neighborhood by neighborhood.
MKEimages.com Image of the Day - Fiberglass animal figures are abound on the Cass Street Playground in Cass Street Park at the corners of Cass and Pleasant on Milwaukee's lower east side. Dragons, birds, and tigers are a few of the colorful and vivid pieces of playground equipment located here. Across from Cass St. Elementary School recess is always a fun time for the children.

MKEimages.com Image of the Day - The festival season kicks off this weekend with RiverSplash held at Pere Marquette Park on the Milwaukee River in downtown Milwaukee. Sponsored by the Milwaukee RiverWalk District (MRD), in conjunction with the Water Street Tavern and Restaurant Association and Old World Third Street Organization the event runs from Friday (5/30) afternoon to Sunday (6/1) evening. MKEimages.com Image of the Day - A crowd gathers for some afternoon dining at the County Claire Inn and Pub at 1234 N. Astor on Milwaukee's East Side. Known as Milwaukee's only Irish Pub the County Claire has won numerous awards for its traditional and contemporary Irish dishes. The pub is a lively year-around venue for Irish music. The Inn is a boutique bed and breakfast and offers a "home away from home" for the business traveler or a cozy getaway for weekenders wanting to experience the attractions of downtown Milwaukee. A must visit if you are in the area, rooms are also available for business meetings and private parties. The County Claire also offers tours through their sister Inn and Pub the Castledaly Manor located near Athlone in the midlands of Ireland. As for the image shown we have added it to both the Milwaukee Snaps - General Interest Gallery.

A look into the social and cultural issues revolving around the architecture and lifestyle of the city.

We recently found this image of Milwaukee County Stadium taken from the left field parking lot in our archives but unfortunately we cannot date it. In looking at the stadium itself, the sound tower in center field replaced Bernie's Chalet when the bleachers were rebuilt in 1984. Bernie Brewer returned in 1993 and the chalet is not yet rebuilt. To narrow down the date further the license plates in the foreground were issued in 1987. So it seems logical that the image was taken between 1987 and 1993. Obviously, the date is not a big deal but it is an interesting photograph of Milwaukee's past.
