MKEimages.com Image of the Day - Slim McGinn's Irish Pub located at 1st and Florida Sts. in Milwaukee's Walkers Point neighborhood. Built in 1905 of Cream City Brick by the Pabst Brewery Slim's beginnings was as a Pabst "Tied House". A "tied house" was a type of saloon that was "tied" to a certain brand of beer. The brewery would help a bar owner set up shop and in exchange the bar would only sell that particular brand of beer. Other than great food and many brands of beer they have a party room available for group functions and offer the "Slimousine", a shuttle service to various events held in Milwaukee. MKEimages.com Image of the Day - A fixture on Milwaukee's lakefront since 1909 the Cudahy Tower 925 E. Wells St. was built by Patrick Cudahy founder of Patrick Cudahy meat products. Originally built as a 7-story luxury apartment building (then, tallest in the city) in 1929 Cudahy's sons erected the 16-story North half containing 150 apartments which once again was Milwaukee's tallest. In 1987 the original 84 apartments in the South end were converted to 39 condominium units. Rising in the background is the University Club Tower condominums.

Breweries soon realized that tied houses were a very profitable way to promote their product to the population in the early 1900's.
