MICHAEL STOTLER - About Me
Michael Stotler was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. At a very young age, he became his family's "go-to" photographer, wielding the famed Kodak Brownine with ever-improving results. In high school, Michael began shooting for his high school newspaper and yearbook, eventually becoming the photography editor of the Rockford East High School "Argus" during his senior year.
Upon high school graduation, he took photography classes at the University of Illinois, while completing a relatively useless social science major along the way. Michael taught photography as an undergraduate in the Unit/One Program, a residence hall based learning environment.
From there, a brief sidetrip to law school was necessitated by Michael's love of eating and having a roof over his head. During law school, he took art history classes to prevent himself from drifting into becoming just another soulless lawyer. In the years since, Michael has been an active photographer, touring his favorite city, London, as well as China and Africa.
With regards to equipment, Michael follows the "I'll shoot anything" ethos and has a wide variety of tools at his disposal, including DSLR, medium format, large and medium format pinhole, 35mm, Holga, and various Lomographic products.
