Milwaukee - Tied Houses

A "tied house" was a type of saloon that was "tied" to a certain brand of beer. The brewery would help a bar owner set up shop and in exchange the bar would only sell that particular brand of beer. Breweries soon realized that tied houses were a very profitable way to dump their product on the population in the early 1900's.
